"Sports has the power to change the world"

WORLD SPORTS ALLIANCE STANDS FOR SUSTAINABILITY

On September 25, 2015, the 193 countries of the UN General Assembly, representing every recognized nation on the planet, adopted the 2030 Development Agenda titled “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. This global compact has come to be commonly known as the “Sustainable Development Goals” or the “SDG’s”. These Global Goals have been enacted in direct response to those threats most pressing to the survival of our planet. Kofi Annan, United Nations Secretary-General from 1997 to 2006, once stated that: “We MUST use sports as an agent for social change!” It is in the spirit of global co-operation, peace, justice and equality that the World Sports Alliance was created. As an intergovernmental organization, the WSA strives to be a positive source for the sustainability of our shared world; by bridging gaps between nations, using sports as its medium to execute on that mission.
